December 2025 WATERLINE | 29 SMART AND SUSTAINABLE MARINAS BUILDING THE FUTURE OF COASTAL HUBS INDUSTRY NEWS MIA Bronze Sponsor, Marina Master, and new member, Lika Digital Solutions, have partnered to deliver marina management software combined with advanced capabilities in smart sensing, AI, and predictive analytics. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a key component of marina operations, assisting with demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, and predictive maintenance for docks, lighting, and utilities. Its effectiveness depends on accurate historical data and continuous real-time input from Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as smart pedestals, energy meters, and environmental sensors. These technologies provide insights into resource usage, water quality, tide levels, and infrastructure performance, helping marinas optimise staffing, reduce downtime, improve sustainability outcomes, and improve the efficient allocation of resources. "Working with Lika Digital Solutions is significantly enhancing the way marinas leverage innovative technology to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and deliver a better boater’s experience. Every interaction with our clients provides invaluable insights, serving as a goldmine for shaping and refining our software strategy." Tone Britovsek, Owner, Marina Master. Globally, marinas that integrate AI, IoT, cloud-based management, and smart-staff systems, report measurable improvements in efficiency, predictive maintenance, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. “Over the past 20 years of supporting digitisation across various industries, I’ve learned that true success comes from deeply understanding customer needs and vision, choosing the right partners, and driving innovation that transforms the customer experience. At Lika, we look forward to our collaboration with Marina Master to create new success stories that inspire progress and elevate customer experiences.” Damir Opsenica, Owner & CEO Lika Digital Solutions. The new wave attenuator, measuring 4 metres wide and 200 metres in length, was fabricated at Walcon’s manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China. Built in 2-metre-wide modules, the sections were shipped to Fremantle in open-top containers before being joined together, launched, and floated into position. Once installed, the system formed a robust 1.8-metre-deep barrier with a 700mm freeboard, designed to effectively reduce wave impact while ensuring durability and stability. A connection jetty was integrated using Walcon’s aluminium system with FRP micro mesh decking and styrene-filled plastic flotation units. All infrastructure was pre-engineered and shipped to site with comprehensive installation manuals and instructional videos, enabling Swan Yacht Club to undertake the installation with technical support provided during the process. “This project demonstrates Walcon Marine’s ability to deliver highquality, prefabricated marina systems efficiently and with client-driven flexibility,” said Damien Gaspar, General Manager Swan Yacht Club. “The Club now benefits from a modern, floating marina environment built to international standards.” Additional works in progress include a new riverfront green space, supported by a $150,000 investment from the WA Government. With environmental improvements a key focus, including the reintroduction of native species, the project has transformed a former dilapidated slipway into a safe, versatile, and multi-use area for members and the wider community.
