26 | WATERLINE July 2025 MEMBERS ASIA ALIVE! SOUTHEAST ASIAN YACHTING CONFERENCE & SINGAPORE YACHTING FESTIVAL HOSTED BY ONE°15 MARINA SENTOSA COVE As a supporting partner of the Southeast Asian Yachting Conference and Singapore Yachting Festival (SYF), the Marina Industries Association (MIA) was afforded a unique opportunity to showcase its support for industry and its members. The conference attracted over 150 delegates and kicked off two days prior to the SYF. Moderated by Wicky Sundram CMP, Executive Director Phuket Boat Lagoon the content themes were around marine facilities, superyachts and the future of yachting in Asia. MIA CEO, Suzanne Davies participated in the Future Asian Coastal Marina Developments Panel where she addressed the importance of industry standards and accreditations such as Gold Anchor and Clean Marina. Training was also of interest to the audience and an explanation of the MIA’s training and education programs for marina staff was warmly received. Wicky’s Certified Member credentials also highlighted the increased professionalism of the industry, and combined with his local profile, attracted many representatives from marinas and new developments from around the region which provided an ideal platform to connect with many MIA members and those who seek membership. The MIA held a dedicated Marinas Seminar which offered a great opportunity to provide a comprehensive update on the MIA’s industry support, enabled members to reconnect with one another, and meet those preparing for new marina developments. The four-day SYF followed the conference. The MIA secured a premium stand location in the exhibition pavilion and was joined by nine exhibitors - Bellingham Marine, Marine Structures, Poralu Marine and Copley Marine Group represented the region’s leading marina builders and consultants, along with Mulpha Marinas Sanctuary Cove and Hayman Island and Horizon City Marina Kaohsiung (Taiwan), yard equipment supplier Butchart Marine and Roodberg Trailers and Freedom Boat Club who all showcased their facilities and products and made some exceptional contacts, acquiring leads for future business. These events certainly captured the enthusiasm, professionalism and positive outlook for boating and the marina industry in Asia. The MIA looks forward to continuing its support of Asian marinas through this forum in future.
