Robert is the owner and Managing Director of Aqueduct Marina, an inland marina and boatyard in Cheshire, England and is also the British Marine President. Robert succeeds the MIA’s representative Bruce Birtwistle CMP, whose tenure as Chair has seen the GMI further expand its global reach and continue to set the benchmark for marina training standards. The GMI Board extends its gratitude to Bruce for his dedication and leadership. On handing over the reins to Robert, Bruce commented, “I wish Robert all the best as Chair, he is very well equipped to take on this role. I will remain on the Steering Group and look forward to continuing to support the GMI. I enjoyed my time as Chair, it is an incredibly rewarding to contribute to the development of those entering our industry.” In accepting the role, Robert said, “I was delighted to be asked to join the GMI steering board and take over the role of Chair on behalf of British Marine. Attending the Advanced Marina Managers course and becoming a Certified Marina Manager shortly afterwards was one of my best development experiences that continues to help me in my marina management. Going forward, I believe the network of CMMs, CMPs and CMOs around the world has huge knowledge and experience that can be tapped into. I hope to be able to support the GMI in promoting and developing the marina management training.” With Robert Parton now at the helm, GMI is poised to continue its mission of fostering excellence and knowledge-sharing across the international marina community.
