36 | WATERLINE April 2026 INDUSTRY NEWS MA FINANCIAL GROUP STRENGTHENING AUSTRALIA’S MARINE INDUSTRY Since acquiring the d’Albora marina network in April 2023, MA Financial Group, a leading global alternative asset manager, has focused on strengthening Australia’s marine industry for the long-term - investing to enhance the quality of the assets, service and experience of the boating communities they serve. With an initial portfolio of ten marinas, d’Albora has expanded along Australia’s eastern seaboard with targeted reinvestment to improve quality, accessibility and operational sustainability across the network. The group is building a connected network of high-quality marinas spanning key metropolitan and regional waterways – supporting owners, operators, marine businesses and communities. The d’Albora network of established marinas includes some of Australia’s most recognised boating destinations including; The Spit and Rushcutters Bay on Sydney Harbour, marinas adjacent to Melbourne’s CBD and key regional hubs such as Nelson Bay and Akuna Bay in New South Wales. The acquisitions of Port Macquarie Marina and Batemans Bay Marina in 2023, contributed an additional 223 berths to the network providing connectivity and service capabilities between popular boating areas along the New South Wales coastline. In mid-2024, East Coast Marina in Queensland was added to the d’Albora portfolio, marking a significant expansion into Southeast Queensland. Located within Australia’s largest smallboat harbour in Manly, the facility added 535 storage spaces, and diversified the network with a full-service boatyard, waterfront tenancies and modern marina infrastructure. East Coast Marina has also benefited from a range of recent sustainability initiatives including water recycling systems and renewable energy generation. 2025 saw the addition of The Anchorage and Soldiers Point Marinas in Port Stephens, and Tin Can Bay Marina, 200 kms north of Brisbane. Each occupying highly regarded waterfront destinations and broadening the network’s geographic footprint, wet berthing, dry storage, boatyard services, fuel facilities and waterfront accommodation options. In late December 2025, d’Albora acquired GoBoat Australia, offering self-drive boating with plans underway to expand GoBoat operations across multiple d’Albora locations as well as franchise opportunities across Australia. MA Financial’s most recent acquisition is Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard, in April 2026. Head of Alternative Real Estate, Brad Couper, said “This acquisition delivers significant capability to the d’Albora network, and represents a meaningful addition to the Fund. Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard offers operational diversification across berthing, refit and marine services, tenancy revenue and hardstand offerings. It is a highly complementary addition to our existing portfolio and aligns with our strategy of growing a highquality east coast marina platform.” In addition to acquisitions, significant capital has been invested to enhance existing marinas, with several locations earmarked for redevelopment and enhancement. d’Albora Pacific Point Marina and Boatyard, situated between the Gold Coast and Brisbane has recently undergone significant upgrades including 57 new wet berths and improved onshore facilities, with further expansion planned to include an additional 115 wet berths, a second dry storage facility, and a 20,000sqm commercial marine precinct. Once complete, the precinct is expected to accommodate 1,400 boating customers and will feature a full-service boatyard alongside a range of complementary commercial marine businesses. MA Financial’s confidence in the long-term outlook for Australia’s marine industry will see continued expansion and reinvestment in well-located, high quality marina assets, and sustainable boating ecosystems that support established vessel owners while remaining accessible to new participants embracing the boating lifestyle.
