F rom humble beginnings working at a health food store to attending La Trobe University (business marketing degree) to WPT anchor in none other than Las Vegas. She has been at the helm of the WPT since 2013 whilst there has been a meteoric rise in the popularity of the sport of Poker. At the age of 24, having never travelled alone, Gilmartin ventured to Las Vegas to follow the poker circuit. “10 years later the big risk is still paying off”. She has been interviewing the best players for a decade but attributes poker insights largely to her boyfriend and professional poker player Angel Guillen. Guillen is also a commentator for the WPT in Mexico. Gilmartin, when asked of the best players she’s seen, described Guillen as a “human calculator” and “intuition...like a psychic.” Gilmartin also nominated female poker player Ema Zajmovic fromMontreal, the first-ever woman to win an open World Poker Tour event in 2017, as someone she also regarded highly. Apart from being the anchor for the WPT on the Fox Sports Network Gilmartin has had a role in 4 films. When asked if we may see more of her in the movies she replied “I sure hope so”. Gilmartin said, “since she was a child she wanted to act”. Aussie Lynn Gilmartin will always call Melbourne home but it is amongst the glitz & glamour of the WPT that we find her.
