7 REMOVEPEOPLE FROM IMMEDIATEDANGERAREA Continually assess the situation, do not put yourself or others at risk (do not obstruct Exits and/or Exit Routes). ALERTOTHERPEOPLE INVICINITYOF THE FIRE/EMERGENCY Dial 000 and ask for the Fire Brigades/Fire Service. CONFINE FIRE/SMOKE (PROBLEM) Close doors behind you and where practicable, windows also (to contain smoke/fire). EVACUATE (EXTINGUISH/CONTAIN FIRE) Extinguish/contain fire. If trained and if safe to do so, operate appropriate extinguishers. Dial 000 Aim at Base of Fire Stay Low Close Doors and Windows FIRE AND EMERGENCY OPTIONS IN CASE OF FIRE Discovering Smoke or Flames In the event of fire, or in the presence of smoke, no matter how minor it may appear to be, immediately: IMPORTANT: Lifts must not be used as a method of escape, or for any other purpose during a fire (unless instructed by the Chief Warden, ECOor Emergency Services). The word “R.A.C.E” can be used to remind you what needs to be done in an emergency. R A C E  Inform the nearest Warden/Responsible Person of the re and that you have notied the Fire Brigade or use aManual Call Point (Break Glass).  Obey all instructions given by theWardens/Responsible Persons.  If you are not involved with controlling the re, keep away from the re area.  Assemble initially at a safe distance from the re, preferably near to the door of the nearest available re exit.  Assist any mobility-impaired persons to the re stairs, exit.  Advise your Warden/Responsible Person if there is anybody on your oor who has not moved to the Assembly Point near the re stairs/exit, andmobility impaired persons requiring assistance.  If the re or smoke situation warrants immediate evacuation, proceed quickly and quietly and in an orderly manner to the nearest available re exit. When directed by your Warden/Responsible Person, enter the re stairs/exit and ensure the door closes behind you if you are the last to leave.  Move clear of the building to ensure you are not impeding those following. Go to yourAssemblyArea.  Do not re-enter the building until the Emergency Services or Chief Warden advises it is safe to do so.
