editorial
On March 26th, I had the privi-
lege of accompanying five of
Narrabri’s finest cricketers (ac-
cording to Jason Duff later on
that night) to the World Cup
Semi Final at the SCG.
The weekend away reaffirmed for me how lucky
we are to live in a community such as Narrabri.
Officially 80% of the crowd were Indian support-
ers, but in our area of the ground that percent-
age would of been closer to 95%. And they were
fanatical. They had travelled huge distances to
be there. But at the end of the game, and de-
spite their obvious disappointment, our small
Narrabri contingent were congratulated as if we
were responsible for Australia’s victory. I think our
surrounding Indian supporters recognised fel-
low good sports. It’s a quality we often take for
granted, living in a small community such as ours,
but a quality that is always appreciated elsewhere.
