How did you get started in the
music scene?
Music has always been a massive
part of my life. My earliest memo-
ries are listening to Slim Dusty
records with my Pop. If I got in
trouble as a teenager my parents
would take my CDs or guitar off
me for a week. Everything I do
involves music.
Who are your influences?
I am a massive fan of all mu-
sic from Nirvana to Elton John.
There’s not a lot I won’t listen
too. Some of my favourite artists
are Billy Joel , Garth Brooks, The
Beatles, Bon Jovi and of course
Keith Urban.
Where do you draw your inspi-
ration from?
Life I guess. Real peoples stories.
I love music that makes you feel
something. Music that moves you
and makes you think
Who are you listening to at the
moment?
I’m loving the latest Eric Church
album ‘The Outsiders’ although
it’s taken me a while to get into it
The latest album from Jason Al-
dean ‘Old Boots, New Dirt’ is killer
And I have been playing the new
Tyler Farr album to death since I
got back from Nashville. Amazing
voice and songs

Describe The Viper Creek Band?
Country music with a rock edge.
How did the band get together?
My plan was always to do a coun-
try album when I turned 30. I was
a few years late but I just called
up a few friends and asked if they
would be keen to be a part of this
new outfit I was putting together.
We started jamming once a week
and I was writing some material
which turned into our first E.P
called ‘Crazy Tonight’. Jochen Wal-
ter and I were in a band together
called Valhalla. We have been
playing together on and off for
almost 20 years
How did the band get its name?
I have a photograph sitting on
a table near my front door. It’s a
selfie of my wife and I outside the
Viper Room in Hollywood. I just
liked the sound of the word Viper
and thought it would be cool in
a band name. I added the ‘creek’
because it makes it sound country
and presto!! The Viper Creek
Band got its name.
What has the band been up to
in the past 12 months?
We released our first full length
album Kickin’ Up Dust last year
which debuted at number 2 on
the Aria charts. We have released
three singles from the album.
The latest being ‘My Hometown’
which has been in the top 20 on
the Country music channel charts
for about 10 weeks now
We played 35 shows around Aus-
tralia with Aussie country super-
stars McAlister Kemp and played
almost every major festival in the
country including CMC rocks QLD
along side US acts Lady Antebel-
lum, Kacey Musgraves and Big
and Rich
What’s coming up for The Viper
Creek Band?
I have just returned from a song-
writing trip to Nashville. We are
piecing together songs for a new
abum. I also got to play a few
songwriters showcases while I was
there which was a lot of fun.
We have about 20 dates on the
‘Back to My Hometown’ tour to
play over the coming months
and in October we head to sea
on board the Australian Cruisin’
Country ship playing along side
Aussie country royalty Troy Casser
Daley, Adam Harvey and the Mc-
Clymonts and from there we head
to the USA to play some shows
and start recording tracks for the
next album
What are your expectations for
the Narrabri Gig?
Last time we played Narrabri we
had a lot of fun. It’s always a little
nerve racking to play in front of
a hometown crowd full of friends
and family.
I am hoping that a lot of people
come out to see us play. I know
that it is cold in Narrabri in July
but we promise that it will be a
great night
having just returned from the usa, Narrabri's Damien
Baguley is bringing The Viper Creek Band to the Narrabri
RSL on July 10th, as part of the band's national "Back to
My Hometown" tour...
