A New Kind of Medical College
Organisations and their leadership go
through cycles. Sometimes they play
it safe, tread water and maintain the
status quo, but not RANZCR. We have
the ambition to lead the dialogue on
imaging, interventions and cancer within
the health sector—and do so with the
mandate of our membership.
Over the past three years we have been
changing our organisation profoundly.
We are creating a more valuable
RANZCR for members and society.
From 2013 to 2016, the new Board of
Directors, Faculty Councils and Executive
have focused on strengthening every
facet of our organisation. We have
continued to carefully keep the balance
between ongoing responsibilities and
new strategic projects.
We have reshaped the College to focus
on member services and consultation,
advocacy with health decision-makers
and on increasingly robust training
provisions. We have positioned our
organisation to work closely with
governments and to have a stronger
public voice. We are continuing to invest
in IT infrastructure that will support
members and our programs in the digital
world. We run the College in a more
efficient and accountable way.
We have reinvigorated RANZCR in a
rapidly changing environment, with
challenges heaped on us even as we
were building our internal capacity.
Today, in early 2016, we offer members
a strong professional organisation and
a ‘home base’ in a time of change for
health care and society. Our College is
performing well. We are building on a
foundation of great clinical leadership
and strong commitment to better
patient care. Our best days are ahead
of us, with more innovative work, public
representation and engagement with
members planned for the year.
The clinical leadership team, led
by Drs Slater, Forstner and Slavotinek
and my executive team are determined
to deliver for you.
Thank you to our members for your
leadership, support and hard work to
date and I look forward to continuing my
service with the College in 2016.
