Immaculate Mary, for 25 years we have been under your holy
patronage. As we celebrate this anniversary, we rededicate
our Oblate Parish community to your motherly care.
In Nazareth you lived a simple life. Every day you cooked a
meal, washed the dishes and swept the house. Amidst the
joys and sorrows of life you were always there for Joseph and
your son, Jesus. Look after all the families of our parish. May
their households be filled with love and harmony.
While pregnant you hurried to visit your cousin, Elizabeth.
Come with your help and comfort to the elderly and sick
parishioners. May they be supported by our community and
gain strength to bear the yoke of sickness patiently, without
despair.
You were once an immigrant in a foreign land. Take care of
all those who have immigrated to Australia and made a new
home within our Parish.
After Joseph died you knew the bitter taste of loneliness.
Be present, O Mother, to the widows, widowers and all the
single of our parish. May they know that they are loved,
needed and have much to offer.
Mother of Consolation, you looked at your son dying on
a cross and yet you never lost hope in his final victory over
death. May all the parishioners who have lost a child find
peace and hope through you. May the deceased enjoy their
reward with you and all the saints in heaven.
When Jesus was young, he stayed behind in Jerusalem.
You and Joseph were looking anxiously for him. Mother, pray
with us for our loved ones who struggle to find a purpose in
their lives and those who have lost their faith. May they come
to know the love of God through your powerful intercession.
We pray, Immaculate Mary, that the Silver Jubilee we are
celebrating may inspire us to be more like you - open to the
Holy Spirit, totally engrossed in the word of your Son, and
always ready to do the will of the Father. Following your
example and guidance, may we love God with all our hearts
and our neighbour as ourselves.
Help us, HeavenlyMother, to become a parish Jesus would be
proud of - a parish where its members engage inmaking new
disciplesofChrist.Afterall, this iswhatHehascommissioned
us to do (Mathew 28:19). Help us, therefore, to find new ways
to carry out Jesus’ mission in the months and years to come.
Amen.
