Finding the right agent

for you

Once the decision to sell your home has been made, you are now faced

with the daunting task of finding an agent who will represent you in a

professional, organised and efficient manner, whilst being personable and

transparent. Even though it sounds like a big ask, by doing your homework

you will find the right agent for you.

Once you have shortlisted potential agents who specialise in your area attend their open

houses. See them in action, interact with them and watch how they interact with other home

buyers. Are they warm and welcoming or do they hold back and wait to be approached? Do

they answer all the questions about the property and local area? What was their follow up like?

Find out the facts. Research the agent’s credentials, their recent sales. Have they sold property

similar to yours? How many current listings do they have? Are they part time or full time agents?

How familiar are they with your area?

When meeting with the agent, discuss their marketing strategies, and what support staff they

have access to. Discuss agent fees and commission upfront, although the cheapest does not

always equate to the best value for money.

Most importantly, remember it’s a business partnership and you want to partner with an agent

that will work for and with you during the sale of one of your most valuable assets.
