MICHAEL CONRY Ensemble Michael has been performing on stage for most of his life. He started dancing at age 3, and since then has won multiple solo sections at the City of Sydney Eisteddfod in tap and classical ballet. He has been a competitive dancer and dance coach for many years. Michael has peformed in The Pirates Of Penzance (Opera Hunter), Don Giovanni (Opera Hunter), Jersey Boys (The Very Popular Theatre Company) and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Hunter School of Performing Arts). AMBER CURBY Lesly, ensemble, Mrs Wilkinson Understudy Amber has had plenty of experience on the stage and screen, and has spent many years singing and dancing. Amber’s stage credits include Paulette in Legally Blonde The Musical (Chookas Entertainment), The Little Mermaid in Disenchanted (Theatre On Brunker), Squish in Chicago (Chookas Entertainment), Fairy Godmother in Shrek The Musical (Metropolitan Players), and Marion in Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical. Amber studied Drama and Education at the University of Newcastle and is now tutoring with Hunter Drama. She is dance trained, has undertaken vocal coaching at The Voice Studio, and loves to play guitar. Billy Elliot the Musical is Amber’s debut with The Very Popular Theatre Company. HUGO DANVERS Small Boy Hugo is a newcomer to the stage. Hugo is currently a student at Hunter Drama and takes weekly drama classes. This will not only be Hugo’s debut for The Very Popular Theatre Company, but will be his first time on stage. ZOE DOYLE Ballet Girl Zoe began performing at the age of 3. Since then, she has immersed herself in the world of dance, including ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and modern styles. Her dedication has earned her numerous accolades in local competitions. Alongside her passion for dance, Zoe is also a versatile singer in various musical genres. Zoe is a regular performer in the Catholic Diocese ASPIRE program and is a member of their dance ensemble. Billy Elliot the Musical is Zoe’s debut with The Very Popular Theatre Company. MICK DEAN Ensemble Mick has been dancing since the age of 10. His first major role in Newcastle was playing Scarecrow in The Wiz (Met Players). Other credits have included The Sound Of Music, Pippin, and playing Sonny in Civic Theatre’s production of Grease. Mick spent many years travelling overseas as a professional dancer on Carnival Cruise Lines, living in the UK, and working in the Snowy Mountains. Returning to Newcastle in 2019, Mick took on the role as Choreographer for Metropolitan Players’ Beauty and the Beast and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the latter earning him a City of Newcastle Drama Award nomination. Billy Elliot the Musical will be Mick’s debut for The Very Popular Theatre Company. 29
