23 Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club Inc. – 86th Annual Report – 2024-2025 Season Committee Member - Communications This season, communication has been at the heart of how we connect, coordinate, and celebrate as a club. Whether through social media, Down the Track, or face-to-face gatherings, our members have shown that staying connected strengthens not only our operations but also our sense of community. When extreme tides threatened the Boat House, it was fast, effective communication that brought our members together. A quick callout via WhatsApp and mobile phones mobilised a team who worked swiftly to protect vital rescue equipment. Their coordinated response, followed by support from Patrol to restore everything days later, showcased the strength of our club’s communication channels and community spirit. This moment was a true testament to how staying connected helps us act quickly and support one another when it matters most. As we approached the end of the season, communication again proved essential in coordinating Easter patrols, clubhouse maintenance, and social gatherings. Members were encouraged to lend a hand with mowing, equipment checks, and general upkeep—efforts that were made easier by the many people volunteering. Next season, we’re aiming to bring our members even closer together by creating a positive, respectful, and supportive online space where everyone feels welcome and valued. We want to celebrate the spirit of our club by sharing stories, photos, and achievements, and by encouraging all members—new and experienced—to get involved in the life of the club. Whether it’s joining a patrol, signing up for a training course, or lending a hand at an event, every contribution counts. A big thank you to all members who contributed content this season, especially those who kept the WhatsApp group lively and positive. Your efforts help build a stronger, more connected club, and we’re excited to carry that energy into the new season. Together, we can continue to grow a vibrant, inclusive surf club community where everyone has a place and a voice. Dr Rebekah Helyer Committee Member
