Cootamundra

26 The Ampol Depot stored, supplied and distributed super and standard petrol and diesel which were housed in Tanks 1, 2 and 3. The depot also stored heating oil and white spirits in two smaller tanks which were constructed post war and since demolished. The fuel was primarily distributed to Ampol Australia customers to run their heavy vehicles and farm machinery. It was generally delivered by road in 44-gallon drums or via bulk tankers which provided greater point to point mobility. Ampol Depot staff also carted fuel to other service stations (and depots) in the district. Cootamundra, Harden and Young service stations were all leased and operated at one time or another by the Fullers. In addition, Fuller’s trucks supplied fuel to Jugiong, Harden, Gaylong, Young, Junee, Bribbaree and the railway at Temora.
