CONVERSATIONS 2 Introducing our Consumer Advisory Body Our last edition of the ‘Conversations’ newsletter included information about the responsibility of approved providers of Aged Care Services to offer to set up a Consumer Advisory Body. This body will provide feedback to service providers and their governing body to aid service improvement. Consumer Advisory bodies are important because they: • Look at the quality of care and services you and others receive. • Find and communicate consumers’ needs and issues. • Provide opportunities for improvement. Information was provided at each of the Annual Conversation events held late last year in Port Lincoln, Cleve, Tumby Bay and Cummins. Consumers were invited to nominate if they were interested in being part of a Consumer Advisory Body. We are pleased to announce that we have seven consumers on our new Consumer Advisory Body. This group met for the first time at the end of February and participated in an online workshop to clarify the role and function of the Consumer Advisory Body. Cathie Story from Port Lincoln accepted the nomination to be the Chair of Consumer Advisory Body and Judy Hurrell from Cummins will be the deputy Chair. Further information about the Consumer Advisory Body will be presented at the next round of Consumer Conversations meetings. These meetings will continue to be an important way for the organisation to get feedback about service delivery. Issues of concern can be raised with the Consumer Advisory Body for follow up with the Board of Management. Congratulations and a BIG thank you to members of our new Consumer Advisory Body!
