How will the Australian superannuation system and other

global pension systems continue to measure up and be measured?

This keynote session will explore what superannuation funds need to be aware of and consider doing

to ensure they measure up. Each speaker will provide a very different perspective reflecting on the fact

that the superannuation businesses of today and the future are very different to those of the past.

Speaker one: Keith Ambachtsheer

Boards need to meet both legitimacy and competency criteria. What does this mean and how do funds

move in that direction? We will be measured on “the value we provide to members”, so what changes

need to happen for us to confidently be able to demonstrate the value we provide.

Keith Ambachtsheer

President, KPA Advisory Services, Director Emeritus, International Centre for Pension

Management, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto (Canada)

Speaker two: Dr Geraldine Leegwater

Geraldine Leegwater will build on Keith Ambachtsheer’s presentation by sharing her experiences

at ABN AMRO Pensionfund in driving the significant change in her fund from collective defined

contribution to individual contribution accounts, where scrutiny on performance has escalated as risk is

transferred to members. She will also discuss the major change in governance structure implemented

in order to manage the new situation.

Speaker three: Professor David Blake

Professor Blake will expand on the UK pension system – will the ending of compulsory annuitisation

work?
