Technology doesn’t innovate, people do! Strategies

to drive creativity and innovation through our people

Arena 1A, Ground Floor

Our world is highly connected with a fast changing economic and social system, as are the organisations

within it. Information and communications technology has amplified our potential as the internet, low

cost computing devices and communication networks connect people with others of common interest,

and new sources of knowledge and information.

People, their knowledge, relationships and the extent to which they are encouraged and enabled by

management to create and innovate, increasingly determine how value is created for their organisation.

This is a big change to embrace because traditionally, we hired people to do what they were told. But

technology doesn’t innovate, people do! So, technology isn’t disrupting your business, people are!

Organisations that don’t focus on enabling their people to create the future will find it tough to succeed.

Steve Vamos will discuss the leadership and management consequences of changes going on in the world

and outline approaches business leaders and their teams can employ to drive creativity and innovation in

their organisation.

Delivering differently: the digital key

Arena 1B, Ground Floor

This session involves case studies from two organisations with business models built around digital

platforms that create and enhance engagement and deliver efficient service. The first case study is an

international example of how a simple idea is bringing thousands of first time investors into the share

market, while the second demonstrates how to shift and shape a traditional finance relationship onto a

digital platform to create highly personalised service.

The Acorns app allows smartphone users to round up their daily purchases and automatically invest the

change into a diversified share portfolio. Investors can let their acorns grow indefinitely, draw down, or

even re-direct their savings into their super.

ING Direct is a financial institution that exists solely online. Their digital channels need to deliver the kind

of personalised service a traditional bank offers … in fact, better. Hear how the ING Direct website and

banking app create customised online engagement and connection.
