The ‘Age of Agelessness’:

engaging members who will remain healthier, wealthier and wiser for longer

Central Rooms B & C, Ground Floor

Our ageing population—the most disruptive demographic shift of our time—is creating profound social

and cultural change. Growing older isn’t what it used to be and age is now seen as nothing more than a

number.

So, in this new ‘Age of Agelessness’, what are the rules of engagement? How can we improve the way

we connect with our older members?

This session will cover ideas such as:

• age is a state of mind ... and money

• 60 isn’t 80. So why are we treating them the same?

• Guilt, grief and greed – dealing with retiree members (and their dependants) later in life.

Insourcing investment management: what is best practice?

Meeting Rooms 5 & 6, First Floor

Investing is a core capability of superannuation funds. Traditionally, that function has been largely

outsourced. But in recent years a trend has developed where many funds are insourcing parts of the

function. Motives vary and all involved acknowledge that it entails challenges. Depending on how

these insourcing plans evolve, this will be a major change to governance across the industry and will

impact funds, investment managers and service providers. It could be a major industry disruptor.

A panel of experts will debate this hot topic.

To assist trustees considering insourcing investment tasks, ASFA is launching a guide—

Best Practice

Paper – Insourcing Investment Management

—at this session.
