Interestingly, the project team has its own kitchen and
housekeeping staff, as well as resident doctor.
Very pleasingly, 2015 has seen the mine develop to a position
where all client targets are being realised - not an easy task on
a project with so many challenges.
But when things are running smoothly, our team are adamant
that the positives outweigh the many obstacles faced with
operating in such a remote part of the world.
Currently our contract is for two years – with an expected mine
life of beyond 10 years – and the goal for Sukari is to be one of
Barminco`s leading mine sites, both for safety and production.
Spotlight on Sunrise Dam
Located 55 kilometres south of Laverton in Western Australia’s
North Eastern Goldfields region, the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine
represents an important contract for Barminco, with revenue
of more than $90 million per year and a team of over 220
employees on site.
Working for our client Anglo Gold Ashanti, Barminco has been
involved for the full 13 years of the underground operations and
is engaged in both mine development and mine production. The
project has a long mine life of another 10 plus years.
Under the leadership of Project Lead Team members Rodger
Murdoch and Craig Metzke, the large-scale, longhole open stope
mining operation is currently running at ~2.8Mtpa.
Pleasingly, Barminco has a long life contract at Sunrise Dam
and is focused on continuing to develop strong client relations.
Did you know?
• The mine produces more than 200kt of ore per month from
production stopping and around 40 -50kt of development ore.
• The orebody is complex and nuggetty, making ore delineation
challenging.
