editorial
Just thought I’d take a little
space here to expand on the
message on the Front Cover.
As many readers and local
business owners know, things
are pretty tough at the moment. Obviously we
need rain, but like other external influences on
the current economic climate, this is outside of
our control. One thing that is in our control is
the decision to shop locally and furthermore
at
locally owned
businesses. These businesses
actually invest the majority of profits straight back
into the local economy. A locally owned business
is not a supermarket giant, whose product range
(and “home brands”) expand by the day. Small
buying decisions like buying Darrell Lea (Aussie
Owned) chocolates from Camstart, liquor from
the Namoi Hotel Bottleshop, takeaway from Cafe
One 23 (rather than the BigJunk chains), all add
up... Turn shopping habits into local investment...
