What is the Gilly Goddard life
story so far?
Well, it all began 23 years ago. I
was born in Narrabri on the 20th
December 1991.
My parents moved to Narrabri to
open a family business in 1988 and
I was lucky enough to be raised
here, attending St Francis Xavier’s
Primary School and Narrabri High
School.
I met the love of my life Brad, in
high school and we are still to-
gether eight years later! Today, I
still live and work in Narrabri.
I’m also a musician, vocalist and
guitarist in the Three Legged Pig
Dogs (with Leon Cunningham &
Mick Smart) and I also perform
solo, regularly working at venues
and functions across New South
Wales & beyond.
How did you become interested
in music?
I grew up in a household where
the soundtracks included classics
like The Beatles and CCR. Accord-
ing to my parents, I was singing
before talking properly. Whilst at-
tending primary school, I would
often sing in class, church and with
friends including Mick Smart, and
from there the seed was sown.
During my primary school years I
started piano and singing lessons
with the amazing Julie Fawcett. I
participated in Eisteddfods, which
I think started my love of per-
forming. During high school, I was
fortunate enough to be a part of
the Gondwana National Childrens’
Choir, attending music schools and
performing at many venues across
Australia and Canada. I was given
my first guitar around 13, I began
to then sing and attempt to play
guitar, it got easier and I stuck with
it.
How would you describe your
music?
Although I studied classical and
jazz, I enjoy all genres of music, in-
cluding rock, pop, rnb and EDM. I
perform acoustic covers of popular
current and classic hit songs with
guitar and effect pedals and also
have begun serious song writing,
with hopes to record something in
the near future.
How long have been performing
for?
It’s been a little while! My first
solo performance was probably
around 6, continuing to do differ-
ent projects whilst growing up. I
began performing at local events
and venues with Adam O’Connell
when I was 14, between other
commitments. I began performing
solo in 2009, at events and func-
tions throughout the area and in
2011 I joined the Three Legged
Pigdogs.
Where have you performed?
Well there’s a few to name but
locally, just about every pub and
club in Narrabri, Wee Waa Golf
club, Imperial Hotel Inverell, Baan
Baa Pub, The Post Office hotel Mo-
ree. I’ve also been lucky enough
to perform at many private func-
tions and weddings throughout
the area, seeing some beautiful
country side and meeting amaz-
ing people. During my time with
Gondwana Voices we performed
at the Queensland Performing
Art Centre, Sydney Opera House,
Sydney Conservatorium of Music,
and at the Newfoundland Choral
Festival in St John, Canada.
What has been your most mem-
orable performance so far?
Every performance is so different
and fun. You see so many great
places and meet some characters
along the way... they all stay clearly
in my mind. But there’s a couple
that stand out, all rather different
but equally amazing experiences.
In 2007 I attended the APEC Syd-
ney Summit and performed for
Pacific world leaders at the Gala
Concert... it was surreal and I still
find it hard to believe.
Closer to home, The Keith Urban
After Party at the Crossing Thea-
tre, with the 3LPD’s was unreal!
Such an awesome atmosphere
and venue to play at.
What has been the funniest mo-
ment performing so far?
Well every gig is a laugh with the
3LPDs and you see some interest-
ing stuff from behind the micro-
phone the later the night goes
on, but the Eagle Rock tradition
is always a good laugh and Leon
Cunningham’s Donald Duck im-
personation that pops out occa-
sionally gets me everytime.
What do you enjoy the most
about performing?
There’s so much to enjoy but
probably being able to share my
love of music with others is incred-
ibly humbling. I’m very grateful to
be a part of a community that em-
