over the past 30 years. What do you at-
tribute this to?
Education. When my youngest son was at
high school, (he is now over forty) there were
few reference books on WW1 in the school or
Town Library. These days enormous amounts
of information are available, particularly on the
internet.
What is your Anzac Day ritual and how do
you spend your time after the services?
Rise at 4.00 am, lead the 5.00 a.m. dawn serv-
ice at the West Memorial and conduct the
6.00 a.m. dawn service at the new memorial,
have breakfast. The setting out of the memo-
rial crosses, setting up the shelters and placing
of chairs is ably carried out by the members
which leaves me some time to watch the march
in Sydney while answering numerous questions
before walking to the Council Chambers to take
the salute. After the main service I am known to
have a beer or two... After lunch the secretary
and I generally hold a post mortem and note
what can be done better the next year.
Craig - I’m sure this year’s commemorative
march and service will be one of the big-
gest ever seen in Narrabri and throughout
the country. And once again it will be people
like Ken Craddock who have done much of
the ‘groundwork ’to ensure its success. Many
thanks
.
