The Hustlers
“Although this image is from a photo essay conducted
several years ago, the image and what was a fun shoot,
remain one of my favourites. It was a shoot based on a 1920’s
theme with the two hitch-hiking lady hustlers resting in the
warm, late afternoon light before gaining a ride with two
gentlemen and their chauffeur in a model A Ford. Only to
later, when the gentlemen had fallen asleep after emptying
their whisky flasks, sneak off with their wallets, vehicle and a
smirking chauffeur. Can you recognise one of the models?”
Father of the Bride
“Personally, the most satisfying and challenging parts of
wedding photography is capturing the emotional moments
of the day and there are quite few. But none more so than the
official bride – father of the bride dance. In this image from
a recent wedding, dad’s eyes show his pride and love for his
daughter in a very emotional capture. It’s certainly one of my
personal favourite wedding images. As you might notice in
the image, I like to use dramatic lighting by way of off cam-
era flash on light stands for back lighting plus a minimum of
a second flash and stand for directional fill light.”
Happy Chappy
“During an extended family shoot, dad and mum were sit-
ting together playing with their son who then decided he
would race towards the camera and say hello to Mr. Photog-
rapher quite a distance away and flat on his stomach on the
ground. With kids you have to expect the unexpected so I
was able to capture the moment of a very happy little bloke
with mum and dad visible in the background laughing at his
antics.”
