A Great Day Out

Since 1933, the Wean Amateur Picnic Races has been one of

the historic meeting places of North West NSW.

Set in a magnificent bush location, away from any major

centre, faithfully maintained as built, The Wean Race Course

and it’s annual race meet are a wonderful piece of living

history and a great day out, for family and friends alike.

People travel from all over the region to attend; by car, by bus

and even by aircraft, with the grounds including an airstrip.

The Wean Races are prepared and organised by a dedicated

committee of volunteers. Parking is available outside of the

grounds, with bar and food facilities available within.

Patrons can bring their own picnics but no alcohol or glass is

allowed to be brought into the course.

This year’s races are themed “The Great Gatsby”, and patrons

are encouraged to dress according to the fashions of the

“roaring twenties”. While this is not a neccesity, there will be

some great prizes up for grabs for those that do.

To find out more about this year’s event, whether it is to find

out if there is a bus running from near you or to view some

1920’s fashions, visit Wean Race’s website and facebook pages.
