Senior B Groups 1 & 2

Poselje •

Посеље

This dance is inspired by elements of dances

and songs from the region of Dolni Polog, more

precisely from Poselje. Consisting of traditional

elements of well known dances such as

‘Marica’, ‘Ajduchko’, and ‘Sitnata Ciganchica’

the choreography includes two songs from Dolni

Polog- ‘Raspukala Sharplanina’ and ‘Shto Me

Boli Glava’. The singing style is characteristic of

the Dolni Polog region, known as ‘glasoechko’,

which was nominated for the 2015 UNESCO

intangible cultural heritage list.

Pirinsko •

Пиринско

This traditional dance is inspired by folkloric

elements from the Razloshko region located

under the Pirin mountains in eastern

Macedonia. It is characterised by dynamic

movements and specific performance styles

unique to the region.

Senior C Group

Bitolski Igri

Битолски Игри

Bitolski igri is a compilation of songs and

dances from the Bitola region including

‘Berance’, ‘Bufcansko’, ‘Pajdusko’, ‘Lisolaj’,

‘Beda’, ‘Gajda’ and the traditional folk song

‘Otishla Jana na Niva’.

J​unior C Group

Sred Selo •

Сред Село

A stylistic mix of songs and dances from the

Skopje Blatija region, this compilation includes

a number of well known Macedonian songs

such as ‘Ova e selo’, ‘Siten kamen do kamena’,

‘Snoshti te prativ na voda kjerko’ and ‘Shto

sobor mi se sobralo’.

Junior B Group

Oro Osmica & Egejski Igri

Оро Осмица и Егејски Игри

These two folk dances are comprised of

traditional elements from the ethnographic

region of Aegean Macedonia and are

characteristic of the town of Kostur.

Junior A Group

Gjurgjovden •

Ѓурѓовден

This compilation of traditional Macedonian folk

songs and dances is associated with what is

deemed to be the biggest spring feast in the

Macedonian Orthodox calendar known as

Saint George’s day or ‘Gjurgjovden’. The stage

adaptation of this popular celebration portrays

songs and dances about good health, fertility

and prosperity in the springtime as spring

is symbolic of ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation,

renewal, resurrection and regrowth. This

traditional dance hails from the Skopska

Blatija region.

Inspired by traditional dance elements from all

corners of Macedonia, this fast and energetic

dance represents everything that MCAA Ilinden

is today - a living museum of Macedonian

culture and tradition. Showcasing traditional

steps, choreography and costumes from all

corners of Macedonia, this is 50 years

MCAA Ilinden.
