O

n 15 August, 1991, the Parish of Mary

Immaculate, Eagle Vale ‘came of age’. A

joyous celebration was held to formally acclaim

our independence. Eagle Vale became a parish

in its own right, independent of St John’s. Bishop

WilliamMurray, Bishop of Wollongong, and Fr

John Sherman OMI, Provincial of the Missionary

Oblates of Mary Immaculate, led the community

of Mary Immaculate in the celebration. Fr Donal

was our first Parish Priest, assisted by Fr Aldo.

Fr Aldo left in early 1993 and was succeeded

by Frs Henry McFall, Tony Colbert and Brian

Harris. In 1996, Fr Vincent returned as the Parish

Priest parish, with Fr Brian as his assistant. Fr

Brian was transferred in August 1988 and after

his ordination in July 1999, Fr Mario Azrak was

appointed as the new assistant.

he new parish designed its own emblem,

to symbolise all aspects of the parish

spirituality. This was unveiled inMay 1992 –

there had been a competition to come up with

some ideas. Fr Aldo came up with the final

design.

The

SUN

reflects the love of God pervading the

whole people of God;

The

GOLD

colour represents the response of the

people in the Parish to that love of God by their

faith in Jesus Christ shown in the

BIBLE

and the

CROSS

;

We are an Oblate Parish so we highlight

MARY

as Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Christ and the

Church –

BLUE

colour;

All together we, the people of God, join with

Mary in glorifying, praising and thanking God

through Christ as revealed in the Scriptures

(BIBLE)

, through his death on the

CROSS

and

resurrection.

The emblemwas changed to incorporate both

Parish and school emblems when the school

name was changed to Mary Immaculate Catholic

Parish Primary School on 29 June 2005.
