Pete is originally from the UK but
fell in love with Australia and an
Australian girl whilst on a working
holiday. Pete and Maddie married in
early 2015 and live at Bondi Junction,
which Pete says suits him better now
that he is a wheelchair user.
Although frustration creeps
in when Pete paints, he has
demonstrated fierce determination
to relearn his craft of oil painting.
He also creates cartoons with
a twist, which are not subject
specific, using cartoon imagery but
done in traditional oil painting
techniques.
With help from an Accessible
Arts grant, he is working towards
an exhibition mid-year, which will
see Pete depict topical issues
that are close to his heart, such
as the use of child labour by
clothing companies.
“Politics can be quite baffling,
it’s like going down the rabbit
hole, once you go down you
can’t unsee what goes on.
Topical issues inspire me.”
