Industry Composition - Total Employment
An analysis of the jobs held by the workforce in Central Coast
NSW in 2014/15 shows the three largest industries were:
• Health Care and Social Assistance (18,849 people or 16.7%)
• Retail Trade (14,916 people or 13.2%)
• Construction (11,164 people or 9.9%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 44,929
people in total or 39.8% of the workforce.
In comparison, New South Wales employed 11.5% in Health
Care and Social Assistance; 10.4% in Retail Trade; and 8.4%
in Construction.
The major differences between the jobs held by the workforce
of Central Coast NSW and New South Wales were:
• A larger percentage of persons employed in Health Care
and Social Assistance (16.7% compared to 11.5%)
• A larger percentage of persons employed in Retail Trade
(13.2% compared to 10.4%)
• A smaller percentage of persons employed in Financial and
Insurance Services (1.7% compared to 5.3%)
• A smaller percentage of persons employed in Professional,
Scientific and Technical Services (5.1% compared to 8.5%)
