TRAVEL & CONCESSION

DOMESTIC STUDENTS

Concession Opal cards are now available for eligible domestic full time students (Australian citizens,

Permanent Residents or Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holders). To apply:

Log into estudent

https://estudent.insearch.edu.au

, click on the Opal consent form and

provide consent for UTS:INSEARCH to share your details with Transport for NSW.

Once we have received your consent, we will send you an email to confirm your eligibility.

You need to wait for this email before you can proceed to step 2 and 3

as per below.

Once you have received eligibility confirmation, you can apply for your concession Opal

card online at

www.opal.com.au/ordercard

or call 13 67 25 (13 OPAL) 24 hours, 7 days

a week. Make sure you have your student enrolment information handy when applying.

Please remember to provide your phone number and email address when signing up for

Opal, otherwise you will not receive low balance or auto top-up notifications.

Your concession Opal card will be mailed to you within 5-7 working days. You can then

follow the enclosed instructions to activate your card.

Eligible students wishing to travel on concession fares outside of the Opal network will be also

required to apply for a Transport Concession Entitlement Card online at

www.transportnsw.info/tertiary-students.

Please note: You’ll need to carry your student ID card and Opal card at all times when travelling on

your the Opal network. If you are not carrying these two cards, you must purchase a full price ticket.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Travel under Opal

IInternational students are not eligible for Concession OPAL cards. International students wishing to

travel on public transport must apply for an Adult OPAL card which offers a range of travel benefits

including daily and weekly travel caps, half price travel after eight paid and completed journeys a

week and a $2.50 daily cap on Sundays. For further information please visit
