ERRATA:
In the December issue we welcomed new member Noel
McKay and incorrectly credited him with having purchased Tony
FitzGibbon's BMW 2002. Noel is definitely a new member, but Tony
still owns the BMW. They were sharing the car at the Stampede.
BRITISH GRAND PRIX:
One of the book reviews on page 24 is of
British Grand Prix by Richard Hough. In the review I refer to the map
of Silverstone shown in the book, which is labelled as showing the
circuit as it was from 1948 to 1958. However, a much different circuit
was used for the British Grand Prix in 1948, one that used the
main runways as well as the perimeter roads. There is a diagram of
the 1948 circuit at right (it wouldn't fit on the book review page).
The VSCC library contains many interesting books, including the
two reviewed. They can be dated, but that is all to the good as it
means that they reflect the knowledge and feelings of the time, in
the case of the books reviewed, the late 1950s.
HELP FROMMEMBERS:
I have received a great deal of help from VSCC members over
the more than three years that I have been editing
Vintage Metal
. So much so in the case of
this issue that I have had to hold material over to the March issue. Don't be discouraged!
Keep those stories and photographs rolling in. It helps me to make your magazine better.
THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY:
In his wise words on page 3, our esteemed President
mentions that Len Kidd and Ed Farrar are planning 30th celebrations. The VSCC of WA is
thirty years old in 2016. I hope to tell some of the history of the club in
Vintage Metal
in this
year's issues of the magazine. For this I shall need the help of Len Kidd and anyone who has
photographs from events of the past three decades. Over to you, the members...

Editor's Notes
VALE Graham Bowra and Bob Kingsbury
We have lost two more members of the WA motor racing fraternity in the past two months.
Graham Bowra:
Graham raced Fiat 1100, MG TF, Triumph
TR2, Morgan, Cortina and Falcon at Caversham. He also
competed in rallies and at Claremont Speedway. He also took up
flying.
Starting with 6TZ-CI in Bunbury, Graham was best known to the
WA public as one of the 6PR Good Guys, he was also for a time
the man inside Humphrey B Bear and spent time with STW9,
6PM-AM and later 6KY/STW.
Born in Subiaco in 1936, he passed away on November 11 after a difficult illness.
Bob Kingsbury:
Bob was well known at Caversham and Wanneroo Park/Barbagallo
Raceway with his self-built racing car, El Toro. El Toro started out with blown Peugeot
power but later had Peugeot, Alfa Romeo and Mazda rotary
power. He competed in the 1979 AGP at Wanneroo, but didn't
finish. In 1967 he co-drove Paul Casellas's Hurricane V8 to
third place in the 6-Hours at Caversham.
Bob passed away quietly on New Year's Day.
