The Conjoint Committee for

Recognition of Training in

Interventional Neuroradiology

(CCINR) was formed in 2014 with

the support of the Faculty of Clinical

Radiology Council, to formulate

guidelines for training in interventional

neuroradiology. The committee

has equal representation from the

Australian and New Zealand Society

of Neuroradiology (ANZSNR), the

Neurosurgical Society of Australasia

(NSA) and the Australian and New

Zealand Association of Neurologists

(ANZAN).

The CCINR guidelines are a

benchmark for the safe performance

of endovascular intracranial procedures

for interventional neuroradiology (INR)

practitioners in Australia and

New Zealand. They were formulated

with reference to existing international

standards, such as those published

by the European Union of Medical

Specialists (UEMS). The guidelines

relate to all intracranial procedures

performed by the endovascular route.

They do not relate to extracranial

interventions with which there is

overlap with other craft groups.

The CCINR guidelines have been

endorsed by ANZSNR, NSA, ANZAN

and the Faculty of Clinical Radiology

Council, as well as the Society for

NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS)

and the European Society of Minimally

Invasive Neurological Therapy

(ESMINT).

The CCINR has invited all INR

practitioners who meet the criteria for

the experienced applicant pathway to

apply for assessment via the

CCINR website before 30 April 2016.

INR practitioners who are not eligible

for the experienced applicant pathway

will be able to apply via the standard

application pathway from May 2016.
