Collaboration and change
has characterised 2015 in the
area of curriculum.
The KLA Coordinators and
their teams have beenworking
with their counterparts
at DLS Caringbah and
Cronulla, as well as the wider
educational
community
to share expertise, raise
academic
expectations
through the development of
common assessment tasks in Year 10 and to create
exciting opportunities for OLMC girls to experience
the senior learning environment. Our students
engaged with the senior students via workshops, the
Mathematics Extension Day, a combined Performing
Arts Night as various other endeavours.
The implementation of the Australian curriculum for
Years 8 & 10 allowed students to experience newly
designed units of work in the subjects of English,
Mathematics, Science, Geography and History.These
units focus on enduring understandings and the
big questions that engage students in learning that
is interactive, relevant and self-directed. Feedback
to students at each stage of their learning journey
is a tool that teachers were refining through the
integration of technology in the classroom via the
Cloudshare suite of software. This initiative promoted
student reflection and self-efficacy in order to foster
resilience and encouraged students to take academic
risks and set high standard for themselves.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the
dedicated KLA Coordinators and the teaching staff
for their dedication and professionalism. At OLMC
I am privileged to witness teaching that is dynamic
and to be a part of a team who believes that every
student has gifts to share.
