the child to the four walls of a building. Each child has
a cognitive, emotional, physical, and social dimension
that must be crafted, nurtured and strengthened.
If one of these four areas is underdeveloped, then
the child will be missing a key structural, growth
component that they need in order to function
well. Our pastoral and wellbeing programs assist in
building each child. I thank the Year Coordinators
and Homeroom Teachers, under the leadership of
Mrs Janssen for challenging our students to be active
advocates for social justice, discerning global citizens,
and critical and creative thinkers who will shape the
society in which we live. We want them to respect
diversity, be understanding of one another and form
lasting relationships. Thank you to the 2015 OLMC
students for their desire to make a difference and
willingness to trust in their teachers.
Our parents are also the bricks that build the school.
As the central carers of the girls, we thank them for
trusting us with their daughters and being partners
in their learning and faith. We appreciate their
generosity, willingness to help and insightful advice
that creates the wonderful community we have at
OLMC. We thank the Parent Advisory Council, the
Parent Events Committee, the canteen and reading
helpers and all who volunteer in the many aspects
of school life. Our special events, Mother-Daughter
Dinner, Father-Daughter Dinner, Year 7 Pool Party,
Mercy Day andYear 10 Graduation are richer because
of the contribution and participation of our parents.
Our teachers and support staff are the bricks that
build the culture of excellence at OLMC. In 2015,
our strong focus on student data has helped build
our knowledge of the ability and potential of every
student and helped us understand and accommodate
their diverse needs. I thank the KLA Coordinators
and ClassroomTeachers, under the leadership of Ms
Mary Kondekakis and Mrs Joanna McKeown for the
teaching and extra-curricular programs that build
creativity, innovation, resilience, independence and a
growth mindset in the OLMC girls so that they may
realise their potential.
All the learning and care that occurs inside and
outside of the classroom could not occur without
the commitment of the OLMCTeaching and Support
Staff who, under the leadership of our Assistant
Principal Mrs Sherrol Gane, embrace the values and
traditions of the College in all that they do. Thank
you for personally knowing our girls and making
their learning and care your priority.
