1.

Verifying the Location Data:

HERE runs quality control tests so that

situations like routing drivers the wrong way on

a one-way street don't happen.

3.

Compilation:

This is when the raw data is compiled, so items

such as the look and feel of the map and the

routing algorithms can be read by the navigation

hardware.

2.

Database Upload:

The entire database is transferred over to a

partner company of HERE and Volkswagen for

compilation.

4.

Creation of Golden Master:

Rigorous examination of data is carried out

and extensive road testing is conducted so that

drivers will always be safely navigated to their

destination. Only once this is done will the golden

stamp of approval from all involved be given.

5.

Distribution:

The final product has digital rights management

attributes applied to protect against unrightful

copying and distribution, and then is made

available for distribution to the end-consumer.

Map freshness

When a map update becomes available for customers, it is normal for the data to be 9-12 months old. Please see the steps below that the

HERE Map goes through before it reaches the market, which explains this time lag.
