which was my goal.
For me the experience was wonderful in a couple of ways. Firstly the roads, but more
importantly since restoring the Alpine, I
had only ever driven it around in
regularity events and never at speed or
high revs on twisty roads up hill and
down. Therefore understanding how the
car reacted and drove under these
conditions was very rewarding.
The other thing was that it ran like
clockwork and only needed petrol and a
couple of bolts for the muffler for the
whole event of 550km of 38 special stages
and 1300 of transport stages.
From memory 50 cars failed to finish
and some were totalled. 12 came off on the last day on the wet roads.
