BARANG ANNOUNCES NEWDIRECTOR
Barang Regional Alliance would like to welcome Corinne Hodson
as a new Director on the Board. Commencing this role in August
2016, Corinne brings a wealth of experience and will be a
great asset to Barang and the Aboriginal community on the
Central Coast.
When asked of her motivations for taking on the role with Barang,
Corinne said, “I am really passionate about looking at the ways
in which we can collaborate as a community to effect change

BUNGREE BECOMES REGISTERED PROVIDER FOR NDIS
Bungree Aboriginal Association is elated to announce the
introduction of Bungree Disability Services as a registered
provider for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The NDIS replaces the previous system of blocks of funding given
to organisations. Assessments will instead be conducted on an
individual basis and funds will be allocated depending on criteria,
as it recognises that each person has choices and control over
the service and support they receive.
Bungree has been approved to provide 11 support programs:
• Assistance in coordinating or managing life stages, transitions
and support
• Assistance with daily life tasks in a shared living arrangement
• Development of daily living and life skills
• Therapeutic support
• Assistive products for personal care and safety
• Assistance with daily personal activities
• Assistance with travel/transport arrangements
• Assistive products for household tasks
• Household tasks
• Participation in community, social and civic activities
• Management of funding for support in a participants’ plan

and that is my motivation for taking the position. I am in awe of
the leadership in our community, and I hope to gain invaluable
knowledge and grow from the interaction with those people who
are also involved.”
Corinne’s greatest hope for her new role is to develop strong
pathways and partnerships between Aboriginal organisations
on the Coast and to further cultural affirmation and the
positive and progressive things that are happening within
the community. “I am really inspired by what is happening in the
other Empowered Community sites and wish to look at the
things we have in common with these communities that we can
replicate here on the Coast.”
Corinne’s background includes almost twenty years in the
welfare sector, with Aboriginal youth and also Aboriginal
women’s services, before joining NSW Family and Community
Services (FACS) in 2009. In 2015 Corinne took the position of
Senior Project Officer, working on the FACS wide Aboriginal
Cultural Inclusion Framework (ACIF) and some of the Safe Home
for Life reforms.
We welcome Corinne to the Barang team and look forward to
drawing on her experience to further develop our organisation.

Corrine on her appointment to Deputy Chair at the Annual
General Meeting of 3 November 2016.
