A VERY WARM
WELCOME TO OUR NEW
AND IMPROVED QUARTERLY
EMPLOYEE NEWSLETTER
Our Barminco
A warm welcome
from our CEO
We hope you like the new look and feel as
well as finding it an informative read.
Congratulations to Paul Clegg and Stan Rolfe who both
submitted the name and thank you to everyone who participated
in our fun, newsletter naming competition.
The Portal will be a quarterly publication and has been created
as a means of keeping you updated on our business strategy,
our project milestones, highlights, events and entertainment
and, of course, the people who make up Barminco. We hope you
enjoy the read!
Our hard work and continued commitment to safety has seen
us achieve great results in the 2015 financial year. Most
importantly, we achieved an outstanding outcome on safety, in
fact this was the first year that we achieved an LTIFR (lost time
injury frequency rate) of zero and we finished the year with no
TRIs (total recordable injuries) in June.
Very pleasingly, this financial year we also secured two
new projects. By building on our existing relationship we
were awarded MMG’s Rosebery project ($110M), securing
development work through to October 2017 with the option for a
two year extension. Our efforts to target and win a large-scale
Australian client also resulted in the award of Independence
Group, a member of Sirius Resources’ Nova project ($130M),
which will secure us work until January 2018.
We also extended our Flying Fox and Spotted Quoll contracts
to June 2017, with the option of two one year extensions, in
addition to the Sunrise Dam contract through to April 2019.
Also in this financial year, Barminco was focused on improving
the performance of the AUMS business. Replacing key
management in AUMS with Barminco personnel and high
levels of support from Barminco’s CEO, Finance, HR, HSE&T
and legal teams resulted in a significant improvement in AUMS
performance. AUMS exceeded budget, delivering a PBT (profit
before tax) of US$20.2M against a budget of US$17.3M.
Furthermore, we have cemented the relationship between the
Barminco and AUMS safety teams with the sharing of systems
and resources. As a result of the various efforts made, AUMS
has delivered a LTIFR (lost time injury frequency rate) of zero
for the year.
Without doubt, 2015 has been a challenging year, but also one
with many successes. And so, as we approach the end of the
year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all team
members at Barminco for your commitment to our organisation.
We wish every one of you and your families a happy and safe
Christmas and end of year celebrations. Please stay safe over
the festive season.
