Barminco best
Barminco had a great year with Safety performance.
Significantly, we have seen a ‘best in Barminco history’
reporting period within the last financial year, seeing ‘0’ Lost
Time Injuries, a 44% reduction in Total Recordable Injuries, and
a 35% increase in lead indicators.
Barminco has also been leading the change in our operating
model, where HSE (health, safety and environment) is now
integrated into line management expected outcomes and key
performance indicators.
We have also implemented a top down and bottom up
consultation process which has been instrumental in giving the
required HSE leadership visibility for all levels of the organisation.

Barminco’s use of technology and Underground Machinery
3D Simulation has now extended to the use of Head Mounted
Virtual Reality goggles.
In partnership with our technology provider Immersive
Technologies, we have led the development of a world first
use of a Virtual Reality Induction and Training program for
underground mining.
From potential candidates and inductees to existing employees,
we now have the ability to give a near to real life learning
experience in Hazard Identification and Emergency Response in
a mine situation without placing the trainee at risk.
We are already in discussion with clients on how we can
collaborate in the development of virtual reality training content
so that it meets both parties’ training needs and is specific to the
client mine.
