CEO safety initiatives

Barminco recognises that drug related issues not only affect

the wider community but can impact on maintaining a safe and

productive workplace.

In an effort to raise awareness on the effects that drugs and

alcohol can have on individuals and their families, Barminco is

rolling out a series of communication packages to inform and

raise awareness of the risks involved in drug taking.

These flyers form part of this communication.

Light vehicle safety

Barminco has introduced the use of In Vehicle Management

Systems at Sunrise Dam, Flying Fox and Spotted Quoll.

This technology helps us ensure safe driver behaviours

by monitoring:

• Speeding

• Harsh acceleration & braking

• Over revving

• Handbrake and seatbelt compliance

The implementation of this initiative has also had the benefit of

reducing diesel use and the cost of maintenance and repairs.

Training facility in Tasmania

In the relatively isolated region of the west coast of Tasmania,

finding suitable training facilities has previously been difficult.

Barminco has recently opened our purpose built and dedicated

training facility at the Zeehan Batch Plant complex. The

facility has been designed to enable induction, procedural and

competence based training.

It is equipped with a bank of learning terminals so that our trainees

can utilise our eLearning Platform. And along with classroom style

learning, our new iPad Assessor Mobile Application allows our

trainers to take the training and assessing and upload directly to

our systems.

Located at the Zeehan Complex, we also have available many

practical equipment demonstrations to augment the learning

experience, notably work at height and operation of certain types

of plant and machinery in controlled environments. The Barminco

Training Facility has been seen as a real asset to the West Coast

Mining industry and is open for use by client attendees.
