range from 45cm up to 1.20m, which is where

our more experienced riders are competing.

Congratulations to Gabrielle Lovett, Year 12

student, as she is not only Captain of her sports

team at Hillcrest but she also became the captain

of the Victoria Team to the National Equestrian

Interschool Championships. The championships

are being held in the September school holidays.

An overnight camp, with the outdoor education

students, consisted of camping in the

Environmental Reserve, and undertaking various

riding activities.

Day three, of the Interschool Dressage Series, will

seeHillcrest in the top 10 schools in the state. This

is mainly due to the efforts of Phoebe Anderson,

Maddison Growcott, and Alexis Hargreaves. We

will one day have a featured dressage rider, as the

students continue to hone their skills under the

direction of Lauren Dixon our dressage coach.

Deb Whitworth has been instrumental in

keeping our herd of horses fit and healthy. Her

role involves monitoring the horse’s health,

workload, and various equine specialist that visit

The Year 5 and 6 fortnightly Middle School

introductory program is very popular and plans

are underway to continue into 2017.

A focus has been placed upon the accredited

training packages that we deliver to senior

students. The very popular equine studies

program introduces students to working in

the equine industry and allows them to gain a

qualification prior to leaving school. A Riding

Instructor course is also offered and two

courses in the Horse Racing Industry. The two

are school based apprenticeships and cover

becoming an advanced stable hand, and a track

rider. Both courses are popular in the local area

of Cranbourne.

Interschool Show Jumping

Hillcrest is currently coming second in the

popular Interschool Show Jumping series.

Thank you to all the riders and parents for the

regular and consistent training undertaken

with Mr Paul Williams. A special mention goes

to Tayor Griffin, Tamia Charles, Ethan Height,

and Maddison Growcott, all of whom scored

points for the team in Day 3 of the competition.

Mr Williams recently returned from the Rio

Olympics where his son Matt competed for
