Regional Competitiveness
The Central Coast has a competitive, adaptable and sustainable
economy, offering excellent local education and employment
opportunities. It is also a region with a unique identity. The
NSW Government aim to capitalise on this strong reputation
by promoting the Central Coast as a key tourism and event
destination, and by building vibrant regional centres to attract new
business and investment.
Significant infrastructure and development
projects underway
The Central Coast is a region in the midst of major growth,
with a number of significant infrastructure and development
projects underway, including the West Gosford Intersection, the
revitalisation of Gosford CBD and new Warnervale Town Centre.
There has been recent major investment in providing essential
infrastructure throughout the Central Coast region to meet the
projected population growth needs. In total, over $1 Billion is
committed for current or planned infrastructure projects over the
next three years.
These initiatives will encourage investment and will also support
growth of the region’s business, tourism, education and
construction sectors. Ongoing investment in the region offers
outstanding opportunities for individuals or businesses seeking a
viable alternative to Sydney.
Key NSW growth area
This key NSW growth area offers business owners, investors
and families great opportunities and a sought after lifestyle. The
NSW Central Coast is at the centre of the State’s fastest growing
corridor from the northern edge of Sydney to Newcastle. The
projected population along this corridor is estimated to be 1.1
million by 2036.

the two largest cities in NSW with more than five and a half million
people living within a two hour drive.
Located along the M1 freeway the Central Coast provides

access to freeways, rail and major roads without the hassle of
city traffic and conveniently lies between NSW two major ports

The NSW Central Coast has a number of significant education
providers, including the University of Newcastle Central Coast
campus; Hunter TAFE has three Central Coast campuses –
Ourimbah, Gosford and Wyong; Central Coast Community
College; 250 Preschools and Child Care Centres; 79 Public
Schools and 31 Independent Schools.
