Population Projections

The 2016 New South Wales State and Local Government Area

Population Projections forecast that over the next twenty years

the Central Coast LGA average annual population growth will rise

to 1.19% which is significantly lower than the annual growth rate

of Sydney metropolitan region.

The Central Coast Regional Plan 2036 (Department of Planning

& Environment, 2016) indicates that the Central Coast region

is at the centre of the State’s fastest growing corridor from the

northern edge of Sydney to Newcastle. The projected population

along this corridor is estimated to be 1.1 million by 2036. It must

be noted that the Central Coast is between two large population

growth areas and predicted to be a high population growth areas.
