At St Philip’s Christian College Gosford we believe
in a whole of life approach to education. This means
giving our students an opportunity to learn through
experience that will help shape their present and
future lives. Some of these experiences occur in the
classroom, while a number are experienced by taking
students off-site. In 1 Peter 4:10 we are encouraged
to “
use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as
faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
”
Our students are blessed with a range of gifts and
enjoy a variety of opportunities to serve others in our
local community during their time at school. Visits
to local retirement villages, a special needs school, a
local homeless refuge, as well as to the Frank Baxter
Juvenile Justice Centre, all allow the students to
participate in a diverse range of experiences. Students
will also raise funds for charities and aid agencies in
Australia and throughout the world. As a result of such
involvement, the students gain a greater appreciation
and perspective of the lives that they have been
blessed with, while also being a blessing to others.
In the final year of their schooling, the students have an
opportunity to be involved with international service
and mission through the Year 12 Schoolies Alternative
trip to Vanuatu. During this time the students will
serve the local school and its community in Vanuatu
through the Christian teaching programmes and
building projects they support.
