There was some discussion about competitors being late for scrutineering and seeking to over-ride a
scrutineer’s ruling on safety items.
b) Collie Icebreaker
– Paul Bartlett reported:

The event was run successfully by Motoring SouthWest on 20 & 21 February
•
It was the first round of the club’s regularity series and had received good support from
VSCC members
•
The Round the houses events are run for cars that meet the CAMS 5th Category rules. Cars
that don’t comply with these rules may not have their entries accepted at Northam or Albany. Drivers
are urged to familiarise themselves with these rules.

Reminder that competitors are liable for $1000 excess under the CAMS insurance policy for
any damage they cause to property during an event
c) Albany
– no report.
d) 30th Anniversary
– Ed Farrar reported that a series of events are being planned.
e) Workshop
– Ron Fabry offered thanks to David Markich for supplying a second set of Smiths
gauges for the Caversham car
f) Library
– Mark Jones reported on some of the books recently received by the library
g) Social
– Craig Bradtke thanked Colin and Peter Dinnis for bringing their Audi R8 GT for display
at tonight’s meeting
h) Regalia
– Mike Barnes reported that the club was offering remaining stocks of T-shirts at two for
$10
i) Caversham
– Lou Symes reported that:

Minister for Planning (John Day) will be issuing a strategic plan for the Whiteman Park area
which will include provision for a voluntary club lease of the “D Circuit” portion of the Caversham
race track; further details are expected towards the end of 2016
•
The club has received support for this from CAMS and the City of Swan
•
The club may be able to gain temporary access to a portion of the main straight to run
events
•
The club is also negotiating for an area of land to build a clubhouse adjacent to the track
•
The Management Committee would bring any proposals to the club for approval before
making any commitments
There was some discussion on whether the club could afford a major investment in projects such as
the Caversham Circuit and new clubrooms.
10. General Business:
a) Vintage Metal magazine
– Bob Campbell spoke about the features in the next issue of Vintage
Metal that would be published in the next week.
b) Scrutineering for Northam
- there was a reminder that scrutineering for Northamwas at
Welshpool on the morning of Saturday 19th March
c) Classic Car Show
– Graeme Whitehead is seeking members to nominate vehicles for display at the
show on 17th April.
d) Honour Board
– the manufacture of a club honour board was underway, as initiated by the
previous Management Committee.
e) Rare Spares Loyalty Club
– David Moir reminded members to register on the Rare Spares website
at
https://www.rarespares.net.au/loyalty/to receive a 10% discount on parts.
11. Guest speakers
– Craig Bradtke introduced Colin and Peter Dinnis who spoke about the history
of the Audi marque and the Audi R8 GT they had on display at the meeting.
