The club library
has been moved
into the meeting
room as it was
thought to be
vulnerable to
theft or
vandalism in its
previous
location. That
sentence covers a significant amount of work. First, all the books
had to be removed from the shelves and moved to the other
room, after which the bookshelves had to be moved then the
books placed back in the shelves.
It looked fairly simple until we
noticed that the shelf units were
too tall to go through the doors.
At first it looked like a
dismantling job until quick work
with Phil Bolden's measuring tape showed that the units
would fit through the doors if laid on their sides. Never a dull
moment!
The shelf units were emptied
by Phil and Bill Dunn and the
books taken through to the
meeting room then each unit
was tipped on its side and slid
out of the old library. In the
passageway the units were
eased up on to a mat and slid
down the passage and into the

And that's less than half the books in the library
Clockwise from left: Gently
does it - Bill Dunn easing
the first set of shelves
through the (old) library
door; the face is familiar...

And down again
- positioning the
shelf unit in its
new location.
