Politics and policy: what might the next chapter hold?

Central Room A, Ground Floor

In a year that’s seen super front and centre of budget debate about sustainability, equity and the role

of group insurance within super, we ask Federal Opposition spokesperson Senator Katy Gallagher and

other industry leaders to share their views.

What objective of the system would they advocate? What do they believe should be the key outcomes

of the Productivity Commission’s review of superannuation competitiveness and efficiency? Which

of the Federal Government’s current super and financial services policies will they support, and what

changes do they believe need to be made to the system? How do we best deal with the competing

challenges of an ageing population and budget deficits? Do they support the continued provision

of group insurance within super as good public policy? And most importantly, how do we build

confidence in super amongst the whole Australian community?

Joining the Senator to discuss these important issues will be the leaders of Australia’s main

superannuation industry bodies and session Chair Dr Martin Fahy, ASFA CEO.
