N

ominations for all NSTA awards were

called from Clubs and coaches, prior

to the NSTA Championships, for a final

decision by the Committee and presenta-

tion on Finals Day.

A Club Shield was also on offer this

year for the Club with the best results

averaged over the number of players (not

less than 10). Kooroora stood a strong

chance with 44 players, entering, Lane

Cove 18, Tennis Valley 17, Neutral Bay 12

and Love ‘n Deuce 10. It was a close con-

test, up until the last ball was struck, and

LANE COVE

was ultimately announced

as the inaugural winner. Club Presient

Garry Butler

was quick to acknowledge

the efforts of his club members, and in

particular their MVP

Sue Woodward

- Sue

had entered 5 events, won 4 and was

runner up in the 5th! Lane Cove finished

up with an average of 4.28, Kooroora 2nd

with 3.89, and Neutral Bay 3rd on 2.58.

The NSTA Sportswoman of the Year

award went to

Susan Officer

(Neutral

Bay) and NSTA Sportsman of the Year

to

Alex Byrne

(Kooroora). Both players

display exemplory sportsmanship both on

and off the court and are both an inspira-

tion to their peers and junior players.

Roger Rogowski

seemed an obvious

choice for NSTA Junior of the Year, for his

outstanding results throughout 2015.
