Georges River Council is celebrating the 2016 NAIDOCWeek’s theme

Songlines

with free family screenings of two great Australian musical films.

Inspired by a true story,

The Sapphires

(PG 103 minutes) follows four

vivacious, young and talented Aboriginal girls from a remote mission as they

learn about love, friendship and war when their all-girl group The Sapphires

entertains the US troops inVietnam in 1968. Starring Jessica Mauboy, Deborah

Mailman, Shari Sebbens and Miranda Tapsell.

Loosely based on one of Australia’s most beloved and popular stage musicals,

Bran Nue Dae

(PG 85 minutes) is a foot stomping tour-de-force centering on the

romantic adventures of a young aboriginal couple set against the spectacularly

beautiful Australian landscape. Starring Jessica Mauboy, Ernie Dingo and Geoffrey Rush.

Bookings are essential.

Reservations for both films are available at
