The College, in partnership with the
American College of Radiologists (ACR),
is pleased to offer inaugural educational
courses on High Resolution CT of the
Chest (HRCT) and Emergency Radiology
in 2016.
The launch of the full three-day courses
follows the successful 1.5 – 2 hour trial
‘taste tester’ the College hosted at the
2015 ASM in Adelaide. These courses
were run by two ACR international
faculty members and supported by an
ACR technical team.
Here is a small sample of what delegates
said following the 2015 ASM Taste Tester
Courses:
“I did myself a great favour by enrolling
for this course. Very rewarding indeed.”
“Fantastically run course. If this is a taste
tester, I cannot wait for the full course!”
“Excellent talk and great cases...
worthwhile for both general and sub-
specialist radiologists.”
The full three-day courses will take
place from Monday 4 July – Saturday
9 July 2016 at the Amora Hotel Jamison
Sydney, Australia. The HRCT Couse
will run from Monday to Wednesday,
followed by Emergency Radiology from
Thursday to Saturday.
High Resolution CT of the Chest
Jeffrey Kanne, MD
Co-Course Director
Gerry Abbott,
MD, FACR
This course, led by Course Directors
Jeffrey Kanne, MD, FCCP, and Gerald
F. Abbott, MD, FACR, is designed to
provide practising radiologists with
the skills and understanding necessary
to interpret high resolution CT of the
chest in diffuse infiltrative lung diseases.
Participants will receive lectures on
specific aspects of HRCT interspersed
with hands-on interpretation of related
cases. The faculty will provide direct
supervision and assistance. The
integration of clinical, radiologic and
pathologic information will also be
discussed.
The course is targeted at general
radiologists and/or non-thoracic
imaging fellowship-trained radiologists
who are called upon to interpret HRCT
studies in their practice.
At the conclusion of this course,
participants will be able to:
• State the clinical indications and
optimal approach for high resolution
imaging of the lung parenchyma
• Utilise approach to CT differential
diagnosis based on pattern and
distribution of abnormality
• Recognise clinical features of the
common interstitial lung diseases
• Describe the importance and
mechanism of multidisciplinary
consultation in diagnosis of interstitial
lung disease.
Emergency Radiology
Jorge Soto, MD
Co-Course Director
O. Clark West,
MD, FACR
Co-Course Director
Developed in conjunction with the
American Society of Emergency
Radiology, this course is designed
to provide the practising radiologist
an intensive hands-on experience in
imaging interpretation of traumatic and
non-traumatic emergencies. Pertinent
concepts of imaging technique will be
reviewed and will motivate the case-
based learning process.
