CAREER’S REPORT
The opportunities for career
pathways are so diverse,
that contemplating your
future can become very
overwhelming. To assist in
making sense of the choices
for subjects and courses,
Year 10 visited the HSC
& Careers Expo at Moore
Park. The students were
able to gain information and
resources for the HSC and
research subject requirements for universities, TAFE
and training courses. It was a practical segue from
the De La Salle College, Cronulla Information Evening
in early May.
OLMC students engaged with representatives from
tertiary institutes, asking questions and taking an active
role in planning the next stage of their education, and
considering pathways for their future.
Work Experience is always a great opportunity for
students to learn on-the-job, and to engage with
adults in a real working environment. 2015 was no
exception. I would like to thank our school families
and local community businesses, primary schools,
retail outlets, real estate agents and childcare centres,
just to name a few, for the support of this important
initiative for OLMC students.
Lastly,TAFE provided invaluable hands-on experience
for many students by offering Get into VET short
courses in Barista training and Hair, Make-up, Retail
and Beauty, as well as an early entry TVET course in
Visual Arts (Photography).
I enjoyed working withYear 10 in 2015, and am grateful
for the guidance and work of MrsYvette Kennedy and
Mrs Cheryl Brown from De La Salle College,Cronulla,
in ensuring the seamless preparation and transition of
all students enteringYear 11 in 2016.
